The second of Saturday's European Under 21 Championship semi-finals sees Italy take on the Netherlands in Petah Tikva (Sky Sports 2, 7.30pm). Italy reached the last-four by comfortably winning Group A, while the Netherlands booked their place in the semi-finals by finishing runners up in Group B after they opted to field a weakened side in their final group match against defending champions Spain.
The betting for this weekend's match could hardly be tighter as Italy are priced 8/5 and the Dutch are available at 7/4, with the draw after 90 minutes coming in at 11/5 with William Hill. The possibility of extra-time and penalties doesn't seem out of the question in Israel and the Netherlands are 4/5 to qualify for the final, with Italy available at 10/11.
Both teams have been very impressive in getting this far and five-time champions Italy could be worth a look to win a sixth title. The Italians finished top of Group A by beating England 1-0, although the scoreline could have been greater, before they beat Israel 4-0 to ensure qualification, while they drew 1-1 with Norway after resting several key men in their final match.
Midfield maestro Lorenzo Insigne is expected to return to the starting line-up after struggling with injury recently, although it is Manolo Gabbiadini who catches the eye in the first goalscorer betting. Gabbiadini scored six goals in seven qualifying matches for this tournament and he has scored two more in the actual finals, with Hills going a best price 7/1 that he opens the scoring on Saturday.
Italy go into the match off the back of a run that has seen them lose just one of their last 13 competitive matches but they face a tough task against this Dutch outfit. Netherlands have lost just one of their last nine competitive games and they have done well to qualify from a difficult Group B.
They beat Germany 3-2 in a thriller in their opening match before they destroyed Russia 5-1, although their record was slightly blemished by a 3-0 defeat to Spain after they opted to make 11 changes to their team to make sure they were fresh for the semi-finals. It was a risky strategy and it will be interesting to see if things work out on Saturday.
Georginio Wijnaldum is almost certain to come back into the team after scoring two in two in Israel so far following his three goals in five appearances in qualifying, with Hills going 7/1 he scores first. The Dutch certainly have plenty of goals in them as they have scored at least two in seven of their last eight outings, although they remain defensively suspect.
Six of their last eight outings have involved over 2.5 goals and it might be worth a look at the 3/1 on offer for Italy to win the match with over 2.5 goals scored. Meanwhile, there could be some late drama in Petah Tikva as Netherlands' three group games all produced a goal in the 90th minute or later, with a goal to be scored in second half injury time on Saturday a 9/2 punt with WilliamHill.
